A Class Pipefitter- Primoris Industrial & Civil - Vidalia, Louisiana
General Requirements:
o Responsible for observing and complying with all safety and project rules.
o Follow verbal and written instructions.
o Safe use of hand & power tools.
o Report to and assist immediate supervisor.
o Must work well as part of a team.
o Perform quality work as determined by project specifications.
o Accountable for all tools and materials at the end of your shift.
o Ability to read and interpret instructions and document, plan and perform work activities independently.
o Load, transport and unload material, tools, equipment and supplies.
Functional Requirements:
o Selects size and type of pipe and related material and equipment according to job specifications.
o Inspects worksite to determine presence of obstructions and to ascertain that holes will not cause structural weakness.
o Plans sequence on installation to avoid obstructions and activities of other workers.
o Cuts, threads and bends pipe.
o Mounts pipe hangers and brackets on walls and ceiling to hold pipe.
o Assembles and installs a variety of metal or nonmetal pipes and pipe fittings, including those made of brass, copper, lead, glass and plastic.
o Joins pipe using threaded, caulked, soldering, brazen, fused, or cemented joints, and hand tools.
o Secures pipes to structure with bracket, clamps, and hangers.
o Installs and maintains refrigeration and air conditioning systems including compressors, pumps, meter, pneumatic and hydraulic controls and piping.
o Test piping systems for leaks.
o Weld pipe supports to structural steel members.
o May observe production machines in assigned area of manufacturing facility to detect machinery malfunctions.
o May operate machinery to verify repair if certified to operate.
o May assist in lifting, positioning and securing of material and work pieces during installation.
o Perform minor maintenance of cleaning tools and equipment.
o Respiratory protection is common and may be required.
o Perform other duties as required.
Qualification Standards:
o One (1) to four (4) years of experience in specified skill (depending on mechanic level).
o Written pre-employment qualification test.
o Post-offer drug/alcohol screen and physical evaluation.
o New Hire Orientation Quiz o Applicant/employee must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of such individual or others in the workplace.
o Job site safety requirements as required by the client (clean shaven, long sleeves, steel toe boots, etc.
).
o Safety equipment as required by the client (hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, respirator, hearing protection, safety harness with lanyard, etc.

Physical Requirements:
o Must comply with company's drug and alcohol abuse policy.
o Must be able to pass physical examination, pre-employment if necessary, and as required by the company.
o Able to climb and maintain balance on ladders, scaffolding, stairways, etc.
o Stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, or work at elevated heights as well as in confined spaces (towers, vessels, excavations, etc.
).
o Able to carry 50 lbs.
of tool and/or materials.
It is recommended to get assistance to lift items over 50 lbs.
Check with your project supervisor or project safety director.
o Must be able to stand or walk for long periods of time.
o Must be able to work extended hours on your feet on uneven surfaces (dirt, concrete, asphalt, mud, gravel, etc.
) o Must be clean shaven and able to work while wearing a respirator and other personal protective equipment, when required.
